Tomato Chutney

Ingredients:
  • Tomato - 6 ripe, medium size
  • Red chilies - 4
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Oil for seasoning

Cooking Procedure:
  • Cut tomatoes into small cubes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and season mustard seeds and urad dal.
  • Add curry leaves and chilies.
  • Fry for a minute. Add the cubed tomatoes, salt and red chili powder.
  • Saute for 2 mins until the tomatoes become tender and smushy.
  • Add a 1 1/2 cups of water and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot with idli or dosas.
